Poem for Apr 14

Radha-Govinda

Radha-Govinda reciprocate with me.
Radha-Govinda, You are swelte standing on
Your altar overlooking my chair.
I am safe gazing at Govinda’s
exposed lotus feet and
Radharani’s expansive skirt.
The other day I described
Their outfits as light
green with overlaid bright
green shrubbery, but on
closer inspection, I see
the “bright green” is actually parrots.
There is really not so much difference.
Jiva Goswami writes that when
the birds fly into the tree they appear
to become one with the tree, but factually
they maintain their individuality.
Similarly, when Krishna enters
the heart of the jiva,
He does not “become one” with
the individual spirit soul. The
impersonalists think the bird
has lost his identity
merging into the tree, but
the bird maintains his own identity
while standing in the tree.
Radha-Govinda, I am happy You
reside with us at Viraha Bhavan.
