Poem for Apr 13

Japa Poem

All praises to the guru of the holy name, Srila Prabhupada. I am thankful for his constant, strong emphasis on harer nama, which gives us conviction that this simple process is most important. All glories to the Vedic scriptures which tell us that Kali-yuga is so unfortunate as to be a “sea of vices,” and yet there is one great quality (mahad-guna) in this age—the chanting of the names of Krishna. That great quality makes the age of hypocrisy auspicious.

“My dear King, although Kali-yuga is full of faults, there is still one good quality about this age. It is that simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom”
(_Bhag._ 12.3.51, cited _C.c._, Madhya 20.344).

“Just always chant Hare Krishna. Never mind whether you are in a factory or in hell, in a shack or in a skyscraper—it doesn’t matter. Just go on chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. There is no expense, there is no impediment, there is no caste, there is no creed, there is no color—anyone can do it. Just chant and hear” (_On the Way to Krishna_, p. 69).

JAPA POEM

All glories to the beauty of the harer nama.
All praises to the liberal
and compassionate guru
of the holy names.
Kali-yuga is
full of miseries, but
it has one good
quality that says simply
by chanting Hare Krishna one
can be purified and go
back to home, back to Godhead.
Anyone can do it:
just chant and hear.
