Poem for Jun 24

Personal Stanza

The dilemma of everyone
using my old car for their own
errands has been solved.
Dhanurdhara Maharaj has offered
us his car. It is an old car, but
with some repairs it should
give us extended mileage.

Linda is filling out papers
for enrolling her seven-year-old
son Filippo into summer school at
the Waldorf. The form had a question:
“Is the child transgender?”
She was startled.
“Only in America!”

John, the Baptist Minister, came
as usual on Friday. He met with me
for an hour. John is able to maintain
sixteen rounds a day, and
he is very determined about it.
He realizes it is the bedrock
of his Krishna consciousness.
He read something I wrote about
my japa being “between worlds,”
not rooted to the material earth,
but not in Goloka-Vrindavana.
He says he wants to preach on
this theme to his congregation,
phrasing it in a Christian context.
He was not able last Sunday to
chant his sixteen rounds
because of all the busy ministerial
duties he has on that day. But
he doesn’t want to make excuses
for it. He is determined to find
a way to chant sixteen rounds,
even on Sunday.

Yesterday, John cooked
Tuscan macaroni and cheese,
taking the recipe from the
diabetic vegetarian cookbook.
Everyone appreciated it.
