There was an embarrassing moment in
my lecture at the mid-year disciples’ meeting.
A devotee named Brahma-sampradaya
from Guyana raised her hand to ask a question.
But instead of making an inquiry,
she broke down emotionally and spoke
sentimentally and demandingly.
She burst out:
“Why don’t you come to my house? I
want you to come to my house in Guyana.”
I have repeatedly made it clear that
because of my crippled left foot and
frequent headaches, I am
not travelling.
I have “an open-door policy”
and invite devotees to travel
to Viraha Bhavan to have a
personal meeting with me. I
find that if a disciple is feeling
distant from me, a personal meeting
can do wonders to open up
our relationship. Why didn’t
the other devotees act in awareness
of my mood and speak out, not supporting
Brahma-sampradaya in demanding
I visit disciples in faraway places?
