Poem for Jan 23

Radha-Govinda

Radha-Govinda reciprocate with me.
Radha-Govinda, I was able to chant all my rounds
this morning without eye pain. And that
was a great relief. But I could not receive
Your darsana then. I kept my eyes closed,
out of precaution, to ease the strain.
But now I can see You before 5 A.M.
with no headache. And it is a great delight.
You are gathered with Srila Prabhupada
and Lord Caitanya, and You make
a wonderful “family” that touches my heart.
Yesterday we heard
Prabhupada state that in Kali-yuga
chanting the Hare Krishna mantra
is more important than Deity worship,
but he quoted Jiva Goswami as saying
Deity worship is also necessary to keep us clean.
I am one who is dependent on the darsana
of the arca-vigraha, and Srila Prabhupada
ordered that all his temples and
gṛhastha homes should worship Deities.
I am eager to return
to the standard of gazing
at You while chanting
Your names, but not yet.
I will be content to have
many glances at You during the day
and look at You for
longer periods of time.
I am grateful You reside with me at Viraha Bhavan.
