Poem for Jun 08

Personal Stanza

The Italian devotee family,
Ananda Kishore, Linda, and their son Filippo,
are adjusting to the routine at Viraha Bhavan.
They are still adjusting to their jet lag
and rising at a reasonable hour.
I met with them
and gave them a signed
copy of my art catalog.
They understood the place
of Outsider Art.
Yesterday, Linda and Baladeva
prepared a lunch of excellent pasta
with a real Italian authenticity.
Linda read from the Srimad-Bhagavatam
while we honored prasadam.
Filippo is a well-behaved boy.
He reads comic books,
and they allow him to watch
a half hour of cartoons.
But they keep him away
from the iPad and the computer.
It seems as if everything
is going smoothly with them.
They are cheerful, even though
they have left their home
and are living in one guestroom.
They are sweet,
optimistic devotees.
